The SouthSiders project

More than 2 years... The SouthSiders took more than 2 years to be finished. And it is now finished, just for Christmas 2011. What the hell is that project ?
SouthSiders is a group of friends from Toulouse, France : www.southsiders-mc.blogspot.com. They love vintage motorcycles and other stuff. In 2009 they created their own motorbike which was used for a Chanel advert (it was not the original plan).
Then, they decided to make 2 bicycles. For this project, SouthSiders and Focale 44 worked together. Special Focale 44 frames, unique parts, integrated lights in bar and seatstays.... Read the whole story here.
Here, at Focale 44, we really enjoyed working on that project. Something different, something for Christmas. Thanks Benoit and thanks Vincent.

Plus de 2 ans... Le projet SouthSiders aura demandé plus de 2 ans pour arriver à son terme. Enfin terminé, juste pour Noël 2011. Mais quel est donc ce projet SouthSiders ?
SouthSiders est un groupe d'amis de Toulouse, France : www.southsiders-mc.blogspot.com. Ils aiment tout ce qui touche au vintage, motos et autres belles pièces. En 2009, ils avaient créé leur propre moto qui avait servi pour une publicité Chanel (alors que ce n'était pas du tout prévu).

Ici, chez Focale 44, nous avons beaucoup apprécié ce travail. Quelque chose de différent, quelque chose pour Noël. Merci Benoit et merci Vincent.

Focale 44 showroon in Paris, France

Une fois n'est pas coutume, le texte français arrive en premier. Tout ça pour annoncer l'ouverture du showroom permanent Focale 44 à Paris. Plus précisément au 104 de la Rue de la Folie Méricourt (République). Cette adresse peut vous dire quelque chose. Il s'agit en effet d'une transformation du local atelier de Cyclope.
Voilà un bel exemple de collaboration entre un shop et un distributeur. Sincère merci à Cyclope et à Ezco. Allez-y !!!

There is something new to do in Paris from today : visitng the Focale 44 showroom. Excat address is 104 Rue de la Folie Méricourt (République area). This address might sound familiar for some of you. Indeed, the Cyclope workshop has been rebuilt as a showroom.
That's a good example of cooporation between a shop and a distributor. Sincere thanks to Cyclope and Ezco.

Philippines Relax : Mark Astilla, version 2

Mark Astilla from Philippines already submitted his bike in march 2011. Here is his modified Relax bike :
- Frame/fork : stock Focale 44 Relax frame, 52 cm, Mongoose cr-mo straight fork.
- Wheels : H+son rims, Miche hubs, Thickslick tires.
- Steering : Focale 44 Relax combo, Enemy headset.
- Seating : San Marco Rolls saddle, Miche seat post.
- Drivetrain : Miche crank and BB set, MKS pedals and straps, KMC SL chain, 8inch 17t cog.

Focale 44 in magazines

Well, this week is quite good for Focale 44 communication department. Our bikes appear in 2 different magazines. In France, Auto-Moto magazine published the 2012 Noble in bronze clear coating finish in their december 2011 issue. In Germany, AD - Architectural Digest introduces the 2012 Relax in red clear coating finish in the december/january 2012 issue. Note the special french touch in AD : our bike is on the same double page as Chanel N°5 advert with french actress Audrey Tautou. Special thanks to Christophe Boulain at Auto-Moto and Sally Fuls at AD.

Bien, cette semaine est bonne pour le département communication de Focale 44. 2 belles parutions presse. En France, le magazine Auto-Moto présente le Noble 2012 en finition brut + vernis bronze dans le numéro de décembre 2011. En Allemagne, c'est AD - Architectural Digest montre le Relax 2012 en version brut + vernis rouge dans le numéro décembre/janvier 2012. Ce Relax n'est pas peu fier de poser sur la même double page qu'Audrey Tautou, posant pour la pub Chanel N°5. Le charme français en démonstration. Berlin Noble : Marc Lindert

Marc Lindert is a polish rider living in Berlin, Germany. He recently bought a 2012 Noble bike. His nice words : "Thx for this perfekt Bike".

New distributor for the Netherlands : Pristine Fixed Gear

After two years of good work with SC Distribution, a mutual agreement was found to switch to a fixed bikes distributor in the Netherlands. Pristine Fixed Gear will received their first factory-direct delivery in the coming weeks. We wish Pristine to sell tons and tons of Focale 44 bikes and parts. And thanks again to SC Distribution for those 2 years.

Après 2 années de bon travail avec SC Distribution, nous avons trouvé un accord pour travailler avec un distributeur du milieu du pignon fixe pour les Pays-Bas. Pristine Fixed Gear va recevoir sa première livraison en direct dans les semaines qui viennent. Nous souhaitons à Pristine de vendre beaucoup de vélos et pièces Focale 44. His words on his bike :
"While living in France I wanted a fixed bike made here and this Focale exceeds my expectations. The geometry is a aggressive enough to make it fun and nimble without sacrificing stability, and the CroMo frame is surprisingly light and stiff while retaining enough compliance for comfort. It honestly doesn't feel much different than my cyclocross bike made of Reynolds 853 steel."

Updated website with 2012 products

We've updated the website with the 2012 products. Have a look at those 2012 marvels on "bikes", "parts" and "products" pages. Also, take time to read the "why ?" page which explains why a Focale 44 bike is a good bike. Availabilty will vary from mid october to late november 2011, depending which country you are from.

2012 Focale 44 bikes at Eurobike show

La Finca Distribution, our active german distributor, is now displaying two 2012 Focale 44 bikes in Eurobike show in Friedrichshafen, south of Germany. The 2 bikes are top-of-the-line Revoled and new mid-level S-Express. You can see the blue S-Express on the left of that picture. The complete 2012 range will be online on this site by the end of september.

La Finca Distribution, notre actif distributeur allemand, expose cette semaine deux vélos Focale 44 2012 au salon Eurobike à Friedrichshafen dans le sud de l'Allemagne. Les 2 vélos en question sont le Revolted, modèle en haut de la gamme et le nouveau milieu de gamme : le S-Express. Vous pouvez-voir le S-Express bleu sur la gauche de cette photo. La gamme 2012 sera en ligne sur ce site vers la fin du mois de septembre.

Cavalier Distribution : new distributor for Hong Kong and China

Focale 44 is now distributed in Hong Kong and mainland China. Cavalier Distribution is the happy one. We wish William at Cavs to be a successful distributor.

Spring 2011 upgrades

We added one more size to the Focale 44 range : 49 cm. All 3 bikes in this post are shown in size 49 cm. You can also see the new color for Noble bike and Revolted bike : red clear coating. Check the Noble bar/stem combo closeup.

And the latest upgrade : big tire clearance, up to 35c. Chainstays are lightly pressed to allow big tire mount. Pictured tire is 23c. See the space around.

Nous avons ajouté une taille supplémentaire à la gamme Focale 44 : 49 cm. Les 3 vélos de ce post sont montrés en taille 49 cm. Voyez également la nouvelle couleur des Noble et Revolted : brut vernis rouge qu'on voit très bien sur le gros plan du combo guidon/potence du Noble.

Et dernière amélioration en date, beaucoup d'espace pour le pneu, jusqu'à 35 c. Les bases sont légèrement enfoncées pour permettre la monte d'un gros pneu. Le pneu en photo est un 23c, voyez la place tout autour.

"Supported riders" page has been updated with complete personal information about each imensajeros.com member. These messengers ride the whole city of Barcelona in Catalonia (north of Spain). We have been working with them since spring 2010. They give interesting feedback on frame/fork geometry as well as on our complete bikes. Helping messengers is for us the way to go. Our bikes are made to ride, to ride fast in cities. Exactly what imensajeros riders do all day long. The cooporation is perfect.
